Typography
- Display: a refined slab or transitional serif — Plantin, Mercury, or Tiempos Headline. Italic widely used.
- Body: Plantin or Tiempos Text at 16–17px, line-height ~1.6
- Sans for kickers / labels: a precision grotesk like Söhne at 10–11px, letter-spaced 0.08em, often in editorial red
- Drop caps welcome on long-form features
Spacing: 4 / 8 / 16 / 24 / 32 / 48 / 96. Multi-column work uses tight gutters (16–24px between columns).
Radius: 0. Magazine pages don't round corners.

Signature moves
- Three-deck hierarchy: tiny red kicker → bold serif headline → italic serif dek
- Multi-column body copy (2–3 columns) with hairline column rules
